ABOUT THE PROGRAMMEThe Awards programme has been running since 1998, the year AYM was first founded thanks to the generous legacy of musical instrument collector Robert Lewin. Since then, we’ve supported over 3,000 young musicians.

The Awards programme is open to UK young instrumentalists, composers, songwriters and producers, whose families are on a lower income and who are aged 5 to 17. They apply through our online application website.

The programme was relaunched in 2021, moving from an annual deadline to a rolling cycle and putting young people at the heart of the application process. A new adjudication procedure was also introduced to reflect the diversity of musical genres and journeys represented by young musicians applying to the programme.

Each Award winner receives a financial grant, ranging from £100 to £2,000, to support their musical progression for a year. Alongside this they gain access to AYM’s programme of musical opportunities and networks. After twelve months they can re-apply to the programme.

Between 2022 to 2024, the number of young people we support through the Awards programme will rise from 200 to around 400. We’re also significantly increasing and diversifying the range of opportunities we offer to Award winners.

MORE ABOUT THE ROLEWith support from the Awards Programme and Operations Manager, you’ll:– be responsible for the administration of the application, adjudication and awarding processes.– be the first point of contact for young people, parents/carers and music leaders.– support the administration of musical opportunities, including a monthly online events series, Awards Days, creative projects and partner opportunities.

Whilst this is an administrative position, there will also be opportunities to gain other experience through involvement in events and fundraising.

You’ll be part of a fantastic team; collegiate, creative, dynamic, highly motivated, and resilient. We all work from home and meet regularly in person. Everyone works together closely to make the greatest possible difference to the lives of the young people AYM is here for.

You can be based anywhere in the UK to apply for this position. A willingness to travel for meetings and events is important.
