RMT is looking for an additional Vocal Teacher to join us from September 2020 as follows:
Maternity cover – 2 schools (approximately 2.5 days)
Permanent – 2 schools (currently 4-5 hours total).

Richmond Music Trust
London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
Contract Type
Part-Time Permanent
Closing Date
1st June 2020

RMT delivers a wide range of teaching and ensembles including group/individual instrumental lessons and Wider Opportunities (whole class) programmes. Previous teaching experience in similar settings/formats is an advantage. As a result of Covid-19, tuition in the Summer Term 2020 is being delivered online, and we anticipate that tuition in the Autumn term may be similarly affected to some extent. Applicants must be prepared to be flexible in this respect.

Applicants should have experience of group teaching in a school environment. Our policy is to teach beginner pupils in small groups until they reach grade two. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they can teach across the age/ability ranges. (Academic Years 2-13 as appropriate for each instrument/Beginner to Grade 8 respectively).

Applicants should have taught, and be happy to teach, both group and individual lessons. Once pupils reach grade two they are able to move onto individual tuition. Experience of teaching on a one-to-one basis, whether privately or within schools, is therefore important. You may also be asked to support/run school choirs in certain schools. Previous teaching experience on Wider Opportunities programmes is desirable.

Familiarity with the RSL Exam Syllabus is desirable as in this instance, most students are working towards RSL exams. Applicants must be able to commit to working for 30 weeks per year. Our teachers deliver 10 lessons per academic term. We are looking for teachers who can establish a regular teaching schedule with us, being able to deliver lessons in a consistent manner without needing to move the lesson days.

We are looking to employ organised, reliable, and committed individuals. We need teachers who are good at communicating with both children and adults who will represent us positively in all settings.

We are committed to Safeguarding. We promote the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All teachers are required to complete an online safeguarding course. Successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and provide two supporting references.

Standard Tuition £24.60 per hour.
Wider Opportunities £28.28 per hour.

Teachers are paid via PAYE and receive their 30 weeks’ pay across 12 equal monthly instalments.
Some teachers are also eligible to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
