Area Leader


Responsibility for the management and leadership of the music service provision within a given area, providing quality assurance of teaching delivery and continually reviewing provision in line with local and strategic need.

Strategic leadership of the main Music Centre within that locality, ensuring appropriate management and supervision across the locality during all hours of operation. Leading area development of relationships with all music educators, providers and venues to promote more opportunities for young musicians.

Buckinghamshire Music Trust is an independent charity, having been part of Buckinghamshire Learning Trust, with the mission to support all educational settings and the community to provide an outstanding education for all young people in the county. BMT is also designated by Arts Council England as the core organisation of the Buckinghamshire Music Education Hub, seeking to realise this vision with a range of partners and professionals who share a passion for music and its importance for all young people, in all its forms.

We aim to be a Music Service that inspires exciting, meaningful and engaging musical experiences for every child in the county and we are seeking a committed, dynamic and experienced individual to provide leadership and practical impact both within their area and across Buckinghamshire. The Area Leader role is diverse, challenging and rewarding and involves these areas of work:

• Contribution to the Senior Leadership team for music provision across the county, consisting of the Director and 5 Area Leaders.
• The leadership of Amersham Music Centre as part of our portfolio of main centres in High Wycombe, Amersham & Aylesbury
• Leading our relationships with the designated schools in your area
• Leading our relationships with students and parents in your area
• Managing relevant instrumental and vocal teachers, instruments and resources
• Leadership of an agreed whole county priority alongside the Area Leader team
• Shared responsibility for staff development and training

The ideal candidate will have significant experience within the music profession, music education and have obtained qualified teacher status or the equivalent. You will have a clear understanding of how schools work and be able to articulate the importance of a high quality music education.

You will be part of and lead talented teams and will have the ability to inspire and develop the highest quality learning and teaching. You must be an outstanding communicator and be able to contribute towards the strategic planning of future provision and have an absolute passion for the importance of music in all children’s lives.
