Advisor for Secondary Music Provision

£18,461 - £19,940 per annum for 0.5FTE

Trafford Music Service, part of the Greater Manchester Music Hub, is seeking to appoint a dynamic and creative teacher to coordinate secondary music provision across the borough. The successful applicant will be working with our committed team to develop secondary provision in Trafford Schools, support provision of progression routes for all pupils and take the lead on the development of music ensembles in the borough. Previous teaching experience in schools and a high level of vocal, curriculum or instrumental teaching proficiency is essential.

Trafford Music Service is a Council service providing instrumental music lessons, instrument hire and ensemble opportunities for children in Trafford both in schools and at our Music Centre in Sale. We have a diverse range of music education provision which offers an exciting and dynamic work environment. We have a motivated, dedicated and friendly staff team.

We are looking to recruit an experienced member of our senior leadership team who will be responsible for coordinating secondary music provision across the borough as well as managing and developing our ensemble provision.

You will be required to work as part of a senior leadership team in providing support to music teachers, and assisting in co-ordination across the Music Centre in line with the corporate vision, Trafford Music Service values, Trafford’s EPIC values, and priorities, and demonstrate proven experience of stakeholder management.

The hours for this post at 18.125 which is 0.5 of a full time NJC post with local government pension scheme.  There is a requirement to work at least one evening a week at Music Centre within the hours.

The Music service run concerts once per term which take place on a weekend (usually a Sunday) and all managers are required to attend.

This post is due to commence 1st September 2021 due to the retirement of the current post holder in December 2021. To ensure effective succession there will be a term hand over with the current post holder.

The successful candidate will have:

·       Experience of teaching and managing staff in a secondary education setting

·       Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship skills.

·       Able to multi-task and work under pressure

·       Commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm

·       Interest and passion for developing ensembles
