Ways Into Teaching Children Part-Singing

  • 2nd June 2026
  • 18:00 - 19:30
  • Online (Zoom)

Teach the world to sing in perfect harmony… one voice part at a time!

Five young people stood singing together.

How do we support learners in the skills required to sing in harmony without putting their hands over their ears and shouting? (just joking – but that’s what many of us feel like doing when it gets a bit tricky).

We’ll be sharing ideas for:

  • easy songs, games and activities to support the development of ‘inner hearing’, musicianship and the ‘thinking voice’
  • progression of skills through a range of different types of songs and strategies
  • song teaching and structuring the learning
  • appropriate repertoire, language and resources
  • managing large groups of young singers

And yes, we will be discussing that choral harmony question that’s on everybody’s musical lips… “What’s the difference between a round and a canon?”

This fun online workshop is fully interactive – cameras on with engagements on text chat, vocal inputs from delegates, emoticons, quizzes and an appreciation of teachers’ own valid experiences. There will be an opportunity to stay online at the end for a chat with the facilitator Louisa Roberts about your own context.

All delegates who attend and participate will receive helpful follow up links and resources from Being Musical.
