Funded by Arts Council England and hosted by Technology in Music Education UK (TiME)

‘Technology in Music Education – Connectivity’ is a free-to-attend series of three online events delivered in partnership with Technology in Music Education UK (TiME), UK Music, The Leicester Music Education Hub (LMEH) and the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM).

The conferences will bring together music industry experts, music educators and young people to share innovative and collaborative ways of working with new music technology, and to share best practise and development ideas.


Event 1:  Music Technology and Music Hubs.  4pm to 6pm, Wednesday 24th February 2021

Brad Smith, Assistant Head of Service at Leicester Music Education Hub (LMEH), will launch this first event with information on how music technology is successfully used to engage and inspire learners.  It will bring Music Hub leaders together to explore how music technology is used and how it can reach more people, widen engagement and enable more people to take part in creative music making. This will be followed by a panel discussion and opportunity to speak with Music Hub leaders from across the UK.


Event 2:  Connectivity: Industry, Education and Community Pathways.  4pm to 6pm, Wednesday 3rd March 2021

Led by industry and education professionals this webinar invites discussion on collaborative skills development in the music industry.  With presentations from Oliver Morris (Director of Skills and Education, UK Music) and Q & A with representatives from RSL (Rockschool) Ltd., UK Music, ISM, Steinberg and PPL/PRS, this webinar will share Information about the opportunities for educators, students and young people to connect with industry.  We are also excited to present ‘Connected Community Music’: a short film following a young musician’s journey from participant to music leader, and celebrating the connectivity of Leicester’s participatory organisations.


Event 3: New and Accessible Music Technology.  4pm to 6pm, Wednesday 10th March 2021

With presentations from technology and accessibility specialists, including demonstrations of a range of equipment. This webinar will investigate and showcase new and developing music technologies and how they can improve access for disabled and neuro-diverse musicians.  Presenters will include: Mary-Alice Stack (Creative United), Tim Yates (Drake Music), Amy Dickens (Accessibility Ambassador), Ben Schogler (Skoog Music) and Liam Cutler (Vochlea).

Technology in Music Education UK (TiME) is an alliance of Music Industry Organisations, Educators and Practitioners from across the UK.  Led by music industry and education experts, TiME champions the value of music technology within music education, the music industry and the creative economy.
