Night of Festivals

  • 15th June 2019 - 16th June 2019
  • 11am-5pm
  • Hounslow

Hounslow is set for another fantastic weekend of Festival fun as Night of Festivals returns to Bell Square and Hounslow High Street for the 5th successive year. A regular highlight in Hounslow’s cultural calendar, this year Festival organisers, ArtReach, will be celebrating Hounslow’s rich cultural heritage with a weekend jam packed full of free music, carnival performances and art installations that you can help build.

The free Festival runs from 11am-5pm on June 15th and 16th with a full day of live music on Saturday, featuring Singer-songwriter, Amrit Kaur Lohia, who will perform a mix of Punjabi Folk Music, Soul and R&B, whilst DJ Wondergupta will spin an eclectic mix of Global Grooves. Alongside other fabulous musicians you can expect to see Festival favourite Guardain Ryatt return who is largely recognised as one of the UK’s finest Tabla players.

Across both days audience members will be invited to interact with incredible art installations which will encourage people to consider ‘Simple Tools’ that we can all use to increase and improve our mental health and wellbeing. There is also a focus on Hounslow’s Heritage with pupils from local schools conducting interviews with local residents, the results of which will be interpreted into a brand new ‘Hounslow Heritage Comic’. The Comic produced by this school’s project, funded by The National Heritage Lottery Fund, will be distributed throughout the borough and large scale versions of the comic, alongside a mini pop-up museum will be available on site for people to learn a little more about the area they live and work in.

This year the Festival will have nourishment for the mind, body and the soul, as art installations encourage us to create a healthier mind space, music from across the world will feed our souls and the marvellous Carnival creations from Mandinga Arts, which feature yearly at this great event, will get us all up and grooving in the middle of the High Street. You can expect Bell Square and Hounslow High Street to be full of colourful carnival puppets, dancing pineapples and a range of curious characters as Mandinga Arts bring a touch of energy to this wonderful community celebration.
