We are excited to present our first ever virtual conference, Play On: the Music in Music Education, for our colleagues across the country and beyond on Friday 20th November. Join YolanDa Brown, the Music Mark team, and our talented speakers and panellists for a day of networking, learning and discussion – all from the comfort of your home or workplace.
The live-conference day has now passed. However, a post-conference ticket is now available to book until 14th December. This will allow those who may have missed out on a ticket to our live event to log-on to the conference microsite and watch all of the conference sessions as recordings until Christmas. In addition to the session recordings from the Main Channel and Webinar Channels, you will be able to access the full Virtual Exhibition, the On Demand videos and the Resource Bank.
This year our conference will bring our delegates a fully virtual experience, spanning over 6 weeks. The Main Channel, hosted by award-winning saxophonist and broadcaster YolanDa Brown, will be broadcasted live from our studio in Northamptonshire. You will be able to log-in to our custom-built microsite to watch and interact live with YolanDa, our keynote speakers and panellists; collaborate in a series of live Webinars; learn from a series of On Demand film resources; network with other delegates and exhibitors, and peruse the Virtual Exhibition at your leisure.
All content from our virtual conference will remain online and accessible to delegates until the end of December, so you won’t feel that you’ve missed out on a relevant and interesting session due to scheduling issues, time-zone clashes, or Zoom fatigue. Log back in and you can catch every minute of the conference in your own time.
Exploring the theme of putting the ‘music’ into music education, we’ll be bringing you essential sessions covering genre, composition, accessible notation, and practical CPD for teachers, as well as discussions about diversity and how to address the challenges and opportunities of the current period. With no need to book sessions ahead of time, see the full programme and variety of On Demand videos here.
Our keynote speakers for this year’s conference will be the brilliant Dr Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason and Dr Julia Jones, AKA Dr Rock.
Dr Kanneh-Mason is the mother of the seven extraordinarily talented Kanneh-Mason children and published author of ‘House of Music, Raising the Kanneh-Masons’. She willl be speaking about the role of the parent in supporting musical learning and progression.
Dr Rock, author of ‘The Music Diet’, is a lifelong advocate of the importance of music and the founder and CEO of Found in Music. She’ll be talking to us about the transformational power of music and why music is such an important part of everyone’s life.

We know that for many of you, the face-to-face element and catching up with distant colleagues is one of the best parts about a conference, so to help create that sense of community we will be hosting a series of networking sessions over the event period.
- Drinks Reception | 19th November, 6pm: Join us the night before with a drink of your choice for a relaxed pre-event networking session.
- Lunchtime networking | 20th November, 1pm: Take a break to meet other delegates at this lunchtime networking session with Changing Tracks.
- Friday Coffee Break | 27th November, 10am: Network & reflect on your conference highlights one week later over a coffee.

This year has allowed us to innovate how we bring our delegates a conference exhibtion and the chance for our Corporate Partners to showcase their stories, services, and products. We are delighted that elements of our conference will be sponsored by Paritor, Speedadmin and Hal Leonard Europe.
Our exhibitors will be available to visit throughout the day and in the following 6 weeks, so there’s no need to worry that you haven’t made it all the way around the exhibition. Interact with our exhibiting Corporate Partners by watching their videos, joining their mailing lists, setting up meetings, and hearing their updates from 2020.
If you are a Corporate Partner of Music Mark and are interested in taking part in the Virtual Exhibition, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
To purchase access to the conference recordings, a post-conference ticket is now available to book.
