Mentors of Change 2026
Music Masters’ Mentors of Change programme helps music educators develop the skills, confidence, and tools to mentor colleagues, share expertise, and inspire creativity. It supports mentors to work with impact, prioritise wellbeing for both mentor and mentee, and navigate challenging conversations.

Music Masters believes every child should have access to the transformative power of music and that starts with supporting and empowering music educators. The Mentors of Change programme equips you with the skills, confidence, and tools to mentor colleagues, share your expertise effectively, and foster independent, creative thinking.
Participants from our 2025 pilot spoke of increased self-belief, confidence, and developed reflective practice:
“The sessions enabled me to reflect in such a helpful way. I gained more self-belief and confidence that I can do this…and could actually be quite good at it!”

The programme builds on our experience of training mentors who support students on the Musicians of Change (PGCEi) course. Mentors have grown into dynamic, approachable, and open-minded educators, strengthening their own teaching practice while helping mentees unlock confidence, potential, and creativity:
“I find the mentor catch ups and observations incredibly inspiring. It’s pushed me further to reflect on my own practice and explore new areas that are of interest to my mentee.”

At its heart, Mentors of Change blends mentoring with a coaching approach, creating partnerships that empower mentees to develop their own solutions, think critically, and explore their creativity. The programme also emphasises wellbeing for both mentor and mentee, helping participants navigate challenging conversations, build supportive professional relationships, and reflect on their own practice.
Participants report that the programme provides a rare opportunity to pause, reflect, and connect with like-minded educators. It helps develop confidence in mentoring adults, strengthens communication, collaboration, and renews a sense of purpose in professional practice.
Provisional dates for the course are 19th–21st June in North Wales, and it is likely to be a residential for 2 nights (TBC), giving participants a focused and immersive learning experience. As we recruit more Welsh students onto the Musicians of Change course, there may be opportunities to mentor Welsh students following completion of the programme.
