  • Open to music makers of all ages, skill levels, and musical styles
  • A DIY celebration of music that needs YOU to make it happen
  • A way to showcase talent, local music-making and different kinds of music
  • An opportunity to promote your venue, business or musical activity and reach new audiences and members
  • A chance to have a go at singing or trying an instrument for the first time
  • On 21 June (summer solstice) every year

Organise an event – if you’d like to organise your own event, whether it be in a venue you use regularly, or in a new space such as your local town square, shopping centre or pub, you can register it on the website. Events can range from concerts and gigs to open rehearsals and participatory workshops.

Sign up as a musician – maybe you’re a band, singer or choir who would like to take part but have nowhere to perform. Register on the website and local venues can get in touch.

Sign up as a venue – if you’d like to host an event in a space that you own or manage, you can register your venue on the website then search for musicians in your area who are looking for somewhere to perform.

Get involved in one of the musical inspirations – themes include: Make Music Day song, brass bands, singing flashmobs, rural music, women in music.

Practical support – there’s practical support and advice on offer to anyone wishing to organise an event. Lots of practical information and toolkits can be found on the website.

Musical stuff – there are different themes that you can get involved with that come with free musical resources you can use.

Marketing – once your event is set up, you will be supported in promoting your event to the general public with branding and marketing templates and more. All events will also be promoted through MMD UK’s PR and media campaign, website, mailing lists and contacts.

We have been busy creating more resources for the website, including an Event Planning Toolkit and Flashmob Toolkit, plus there are various arrangements for the Make Music Day song – Bring Me Sunshine – which groups can use for free on 21 June. Everything can be found here. More resources coming soon include Rural Toolkit, Digital Streaming Toolkit, marketing templates and resources, more song arrangements for vocal groups, flashmobs and brass bands.
