Hampshire’s Annual Secondary Music Conference

  • 20th October 2017 - 20th October 2017
  • 9am - 3.45pm
  • Marwell Hotel, Hampshire

With Progress 8 such an important whole-school influence, this year’s focus is on progression through music, through three important strands of music education: vocal work, classroom learning and composing. In each case, there will be workshops looking at the expectations and processes for top Junior / early secondary students, and then work through to GCSE and beyond. Follow a strand from start to finish, or take a pick’n’mix approach through the day!

We have a team of experienced workshop leaders drawn from local schools and colleges, HMS staff and professional musicians. This mix will provide everyone with ideas that are tried and tested in the classroom, in local ensembles and in the real world of work.

In addition, the conference will provide delegates with opportunities to hear about recent research into what makes ‘good music departments’, to see new resources for composing, and to share with colleagues ideas on detailed planning and resources for the new GCSE examinations. And of course, there will be plenty of time to network with colleagues and discuss all the latest issues!
