encore and Brighton College are delighted to be hosting this exciting fundraising concert at the fabulous new Sarah Abraham Recital Hall at Brighton College.

The Programme
Philip Fowke is known for his many BBC Promenade Concert appearances, numerous recordings and broad range of repertoire performed worldwide. Conductors with whom he has worked include Vladimir Ashkenazy, Rudolf Barshai, Tadaaki Otaka, Sir Simon Rattle, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Yuri Temirkanov and the late Klaus Tennstedt. The programme will include Bachs’ D Minor Piano Concerto and works from Poland to China.

“High musical intellect with elegance, wit and unashamedly joyful showmanship, marks out Philip Fowke among his own generation of pianists” The Times

Brighton Youth Orchestra was founded in the late 1940’s and became the first youth orchestra in Great Britain to be directly supported by their local council. The orchestra performs major symphonic repertoire, some of which has been premiered by the orchestra such as Sir John Tavener’s ‘Exstasis’. In recent years BYO has performed with Nicola Benedetti, Evelyn Glennie, John Tomlinson, Richard Durrant, Joanna McGregor and Laura van der Heijden and concerts have taken place in such venues as the Dome concert hall in Brighton to Hong Kong and Berlin.

“must rank as one of the finest performances ever given in the 27 years of the Music for Youth School Proms.” Times Education Supplement

An unmissable, fun concert with drinks and canapes served in the Liu Room. We welcome young people and children at the concert, so please do bring your family and help to inspire the next generation of great musicians!
