Demystifying youth voice and participation workshop

  • 8th November 2017
  • 9.30am - 3.30pm
  • Oxford House, Bethnal Green, London

Youth voice training will be led by Jennifer Raven, Adem Holness and members of our flagship Wired4Music network. The Sound Connections team of youth voice experts will take participants on a practical, exploratory journey to learn the key principles of youth voice and youth governance.

Presented in a workshop format combining interactive activities, case studies and presentations; participants will explore why youth voice is important and how to successfully embed it into organisations from various sectors.

In recent months, Sound Connections have worked alongside major arts organisations such as Arts Council England and the Barbican to support new youth voice and governance strategies, and provided trainings for local hubs around the country to increase collaborative engagement with young people. They now want to offer this training to more organisations.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of:

– What youth voice is, and what benefits it brings to organisations, marketing, communications and audience engagement

– The process of establishing youth governance

– Formalising structures for working collaboratively with young people

– How to advocate for youth voice to your board, wider organisation and sector

Ideal for: corporate businesses, arts and marketing organisations, Music Hubs and local community organisations, community music leaders, emerging artists.
