Chamber Music: Synergies through time, places and spaces

  • 13th March 2026
  • 10:00 - 19:00
  • Norwegian Church Arts Centre, Cardiff

A one-day conference celebrating the place of chamber music in past and present societies, and advocating for its continued livelihood as we look into the future.

The event, which is free to attend, will be held at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre (Cardiff Bay) on the 13th of March from 10am – 7pm. To open the conference, Prof. Lucy Green, Dr Susan Young, Julia Plaut and Clíona Ní Choileáin will be joining us for a Panel Discussion on Music Education & Engagement through Chamber Music. During the day scholars and researchers from around the UK, Europe and the USA will be presenting on a wide range of historical, interdisciplinary and practice-as-research chamber music topics. This will be followed by a performance of Mendelssohn’s Octet, performed by the Carducci and Vita Quartets. Concluding the conference, Prof. Laura Tunbridge will be presenting a Keynote Lecture on ‘Do we need to have a conversation about this? “Playing Chamber” in the twenty-first century’.

We warmly invite you to join us for an event that promises to offer a stimulating and interactive environment for educators, researchers and performers to learn, engage and network through a shared passion for chamber music.
