Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training for Music Teachers

  • 19th October
  • 3.30pm - 4.30pm
  • Online (Zoom)

Benedict’s Law requires all staff working in schools to be trained to recognise and respond to allergic reactions in a timely fashion. This compliant training will provide everything from knowing the signs of an allergy or anaphylaxsis, as well as what do to in an emergency situation.

Benedict’s Law requires all staff working in schools whether employed by the school or who work with students in a regulated capacity to be trained to recognise and respond to allergic reactions in a timely fashion.

This training will enable the participant to know the signs and symptoms of allergy, anaphylaxis and how to respond in an emergency situation.  Most importantly, the participant will understand the importance of prevention and their role in this.  This training is fully compliant with the requirements under Benedict’s Law.  A certificate and handout are provided for each participant at the end of the training.

About the Presenter

Tracey Dunn is the Education and AllergyWise® Manager for Anaphylaxis UK. Tracey joined the team following her retirement from Headship having taught and led schools for 30 years. Tracey’s vast experience and knowledge ensures that Anaphylaxis UK’s training and education packages help people living with serious allergies and those who live and work alongside them, have the knowledge and understanding they need to ensure that the environment is safe, inclusive and welcoming. As a qualified teacher and Headteacher, Tracey understands how to make educational establishments safer places to learn. Her knowledge of education legislation and how schools operate is invaluable leading to regularly receiving feedback like this:

The training was clear, informative, and practical. Tracey tailored this to the needs of a school environment and delivered in a way that made staff feel empowered. Tracey was wonderful in adapting her input as questions were raised, whilst still covering the statutory requirements. We believe any school would benefit greatly from the expertise and clarity provided by Anaphylaxis UK. – St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Corsham, February 2026

Tracey works with a number of different organisations to ensure the safety of students with allergies. These include the Department of Education and co-chairing the education group of the National Allergy Strategy.

Allergy education has been a passion of Tracey’s for many years as she is a mum to two teenagers who have serious allergies. In a voluntary capacity, she has supported the Safer Schools Programme for Anaphylaxis UK and has worked with her local NHS Trust and Education Authority to develop robust training for schools in her area.
