All Aboard Music Network – Making music with d/Deaf pupils

  • 8 November 2023
  • 16:15 - 17:30
  • Online (Zoom)

CPD for educators on making music accessible to d/Deaf pupils.

The All Aboard Music Network is a friendly, relaxed space for musicians, music leaders and educators to come together to share, learn and develop their skills in music-making with Disabled children and young people.

Meetings will be held over Zoom and are free to attend.

Each session will look at different elements and themes and will be hosted by a team of experienced musicians, educators and creatives who can offer insight, guidance and practical tips. There will be guest talks from the panel, as well as a space for discussions, time to ask questions and a chance to seek advice from the group.

This network is for people at all stages of their development, so no prior experience is necessary, just a passion for making music accessible to all!

The session on the 8th November will focus on supporting d/Deaf musicians during lessons and will discuss hearing assisting technology and it’s impact on listening to music, the use of BSL and gesture in lessons, and how this can aid learning and best practice in approaching lessons with a d/Deaf pupil. We will also cover working with other professionals in optimising access to music.
