About Music Mark Schools

What is Music Mark?

We are a subject association for music education with a membership made up of organisations and people from across the music education sector. Find out more about us.

Is it like Artsmark?

No, Music Mark School invitations are sent by your Music Service in recognition of the work you already do. Unlike Arts Mark, you do not need to work towards becoming a Music Mark School.

How do we become a Music Mark School?

If you’d like to become a Music Mark School, please get in touch with your Music Service to request an invitation. Once invited, you’ll receive an email with all the information you need to create your Music Mark Schools account and get started with us.

We’ve been invited. What do we need to do now?

Congratulations! An invitation to Music Mark Schools means that your school has been recognised for its commitment to music education. To accept the invitation, please follow the instructions in your invitation email. You’ll need to complete a quick online form to create an account with us and you’ll then be able to start making the most of being a Music Mark School. Your Welcome Pack is a good place to start, and this is also where you’ll be able to download your Music Mark Schools certificate and logo pack.

Why have we been invited?

Your Music Service can invite your school for a variety of reasons but principally because they recognise your school’s commitment to music and want to celebrate it. If you’d like to find out more about why you’ve been invited, please get in touch with your Music Service.

How long does our subscription last?

The Music Mark Schools programme runs for the duration of the academic year. Regardless of when you are invited to the programme, your subscription will end at the end of the academic year. We’ll send you an email in July to remind you that your subscription will be ending soon.

If you’d like to join the next year’s programme, you’ll need to be invited by your Music Service again.

How much does this cost?

Schools who have been invited by their Music Service receive a range of Music Mark membership benefits for free. The cost for schools to join us as members without an invitation is £100+VAT per year.

Your Music Mark Schools Account

I’ve forgotten my password. What should I do?

You can reset your password online.

We’ve been a Music Mark School before. Do we need to sign up again?

Yes. If you don’t follow the instructions in your invitation email to add the current year’s Music Mark Schools membership to your account, you won’t be able to access your new certificate or any member-only benefits.

Do I have to create an account to access our certificate?

Yes. In order to access your certificate, you’ll need to be logged in so that you can download it from your Welcome Pack. To create an account, please follow the instructions in your invitation email.

Can I sign up with my personal email address or does it have to be a school one?

You can use any email address, but a school email address is preferable.

Your website says my email address is not valid. What should I do?

This means you’re trying to create an account with an email address that we don’t recognise yet. Please go back to your invitation email and use the link provided to create your account. You’ll only be able to create your Music Mark Schools account using this link.

I haven’t received a ‘confirm your email address’ email. What should I do?

If this is the first time you’re creating an account with us, you’ll need to confirm your email address before you can login. To do this we’ll send you an email with a link that you’ll need to click to confirm that your email address is correct. Sometimes these emails are filtered as spam or junk so if you don’t receive this email, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still can’t find the email, please get in contact with us at info@musicmark.org.uk so that we can help you.

The Music Lead is changing in my school. What should I do?

You do not need to contact us if the Music Lead changes in your school. You can continue to recieve all the benefits of being part of the Music Mark Schools programme or unsubscribe from our communications if you wish.

In order for the new Music Lead to sign up to the Music Mark Schools programme and receive the associated benefits, please send them your original invitation email. Please also encourage the new Music Lead to sign up to hear from us so that they will receive our newsletters.

I’m leaving my current school. What should I do?

Please make sure that you have forwarded your original invitation email on to a colleague at your school so that they can sign up to the Music Mark Schools programme and continue to receive the benefits of Music Mark Schools when you have left. Please also encourage your colleagues to sign up to hear from us so that your school will continue to receive our newsletters.

If your new school is not yet a Music Mark School, you may wish to get in touch with your Music Service to request an invitation. You can sign up to hear form us with your new email address once you have started at your new school.

If you’re moving to a new job or retiring but would like to retain your Music Mark Schools benefits, please consider joining us as a member.

Using Your Music Mark Schools Benefits

How can other colleagues in my school access our Music Mark Schools benefits?

Please share your invitation email with colleagues in your school so that they can use the link to create their own Music Mark Schools accounts and gain access to all the benefits of the programme including our member-only resources and training.

Can I share your resources with other teachers or friends?

If you’ve had to log in to view a resource, that means it’s only available to our members. You’re welcome to share member-only resources with colleagues in your school but please do not share them with anyone outside your school.

If you know colleagues working in other schools who would like to access our member-only content, please encourage them to get in touch with their Music Service to request an invitation.
